Sizes:
3-1/2"(89 mm) minimum, 16" (406 mm)
maximum height. Opening is centered in Joint
and is 2" (51 mm) long in joints 4"
(102 mm) or less in height and 3" (76.2
mm) long in joints over 4" (102 mm) in
height. (Note: Joint height is usually the same
as slab thickness. However, shorter joints can
be ordered if top of metal is to be held below
surface of slab.)
Gages:
24, 22, 20, 18, and 16 gage steel. Joints fabricated
of the heavier gage steel can better resist
the deflection that could result from thick
concrete pours. This helps to assure straight
joints and may reduce the amount of formwork
or bracing required. In addition, heavy-duty
keyed joints are more resistant to damage and
dislocation caused by concrete placement and
vibration.
Finishes:
Mill galvanized is most frequently specified,
but stainless steel and copper are also available
for use in corrosive environments and special
conditions.
Holes:
Stake pin holes are usually 24" (610 mm)
o.c. starting 1-1/2" (38 mm) from the ends,
enough for six stake pins per 10 ft. (3.048
m) piece. Dowel holes are usually 30" o.c.
(762 mm) starting 15" (381 mm) from ends,
enough for 4 dowels per 10 ft. (3.048 m) piece.
Specify 9/16" (14.29 mm) or 13/16"
(20.64 mm) holes for dowels.
